911 Fitness Challenge Announces 2015 Contest Winners

– Organizers of the 911 Fitness Challenge, the nationwide weight loss transformation contest for 911 personnel, have recently announced the winners of the 2015 competition. Jim Sayih, MS, CSCS, the contest runs each year from January to April. It enables 911 personnel -- firefighters, police officers, emergency medical workers, civilians and military members – in three to five person teams to engage in a healthy competition focused on building muscle and losing fat. This year’s more than 6,000 entrants benefitted from Sayih’s expertise as an Inducted member of the Personal Trainer Hall of Fame and the recipient of the President's Council on Physical Fitness Community Leadership Award.
First place winner was Luis Valdes of Pembroke Pines, Florida, a technician with AT&T. Valdes’ team improved 55.22 percent in fat loss and muscle gain combined. Second place was Lisa Ger of Weston, Florida, an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Lisa’s team transformed 49.9 percent. Third place winner was Scott Mes of Weston, Florida, a DEA agent. Scott’s team transformed 31.69 percent.

Winners of the 911 Fitness Challenge receive $5,000. Contest entry fees are donated to the 22 Shriners Children's hospitals around the nation for research, therapy and equipment for burned and physically challenged children.
