GARDEN: The Woman’s Garden Club of Lancaster County will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Greenfield Road.

The program is “Gourds from Vine to Design.”

All women interested in gardening are welcome. For more information, call 569-1002.

TALK/TOUR: The Family Maternity Unit of Ephrata Community Hospital, 169 Martin Ave., Ephrata, will offer a “Talk and Tour” of the unit from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25.

Visitors will have an opportunity to ask questions, tour the maternity services area and meet the staff.

EXHIBIT: Country Meadows of Lancaster, 1380 Elm Ave., will host artwork created by residents and employees during an exhibit Friday through Sunday, Oct. 26-28.

Hours of the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The exhibit will feature oil paintings, watercolors, handmade jewelry, weaving, calligraphy, woodcarvings, needlepoint and cross- stitch, and wooden toys.

The public is invited.

AUCTION: The 24th annual benefit auction for Support for Prison Ministries will be held starting at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, and 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Farmersville Auction Grounds, 33 N. Farmersville Road, Ephrata.

Friday’s events include a chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m., and an auction beginning at 5 p.m. A Winross auction will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday’s events begin with a pancake breakfast starting at 6 a.m., followed by an auction at 8:30 a.m. Specialty items, including a large 3-D original hand-carved picture by Lorraine Reiff, theme gift baskets and a Weber gas grill, go on the block at 11:30 a.m. A quilt auction begins at 1:30 p.m.

Homemade baked goods and other food will be available.

BENEFIT GALA: SouthEast Lancaster Health Services will host an “All Star Gala” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Wheatland Suite at Clipper Mazagine Stadium, 650 N. Prince St.

The event will include food, a silent auction and dancing.

Proceeds benefit the efforts of SouthEast, a non-profit organization providing healthcare to the uninsured and underserved in Lancaster County.

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased in advance by calling 299- 6372, ext. 128. Tickets, if available, will also be sold at the door.

HALLOWEEN: Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation & Community Services will hold it’s 18th annual Haunted Grounds event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Elizabethtown, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Elizabethtown fairgrounds.

Haunted scenes will be set up by local organizations and clubs. Admission is $3 for students and $4 for adults. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

GEARS Kids Korner will have free activities for young children, including face painting, pumpkin decorating and coloring pages.

Hayrides will be given for $1 per person.

DANCE: A polka and variety dance, sponsored by The Dutchland Polkateers, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the social hall of St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz.

Joe Stanky and The Cadets will provide the music.

Cost is $12 per person, which includes refreshments. For more information, call Ed Zychal at 656-2476.

FALL FEST: Chiques United Methodist Church, Route 30, Mount Joy, will hold its first annual fall festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

The event will include hayrides, pumpkin decorating, chili, hot dogs, desserts and s’mores on the campfire. Bib overalls or friendly costumes are welcome.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted for missions of the church, specifically the “Sound Off for Poverty” campaign.

BREAKFAST: Faith United Methodist Church, Koser Road and Fruitville Pike, will hold a hot breakfast buffet from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

Cost is $5. All proceeds benefit the church’s plans to expand classrooms and the nursery and to add a health ministry.

The church hosts a breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month. Groups of 12 or more are asked to call ahead for seating at 560-0321.

CHICKEN BBQ: The Ephrata Woman’s Club will hold a chicken barbecue from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Martin’s Country Market, 1717 W. Main St., Ephrata.

Cost is $4.75 per half chicken.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Conestoga Valley Community Center will host a “do as you please” trip to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The bus will leave the center, 333 W. Main St., Leola, at 6:30 a.m. and return at 10 p.m.

Cost is $40 per person for transportation. For more information or to register, call 656-2822.

ADOPTIONS: Commonwealth Adoptions International Inc., an international and domestic adoption agency, will host an adoption seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Lancaster Public Library, 125 N. Duke St.

MT. CALVARY: Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Petersburg Road, Neffsville, will hold a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
