Western New York Independent Living Project is sponsoring a Casino Night and Auction at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel’s Seneca Events Center, Niagara Falls. The Erie County Department of Senior Services will hold a six- week “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” program from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 16 and 30 and Dec. 7 and 14 in American Red Cross Blood Services Building Room 4, 786 Delaware Ave.
The program also will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 5 to Dec. 10, in Elder- Wood at Glenwood, 5271 Main St., Williamsville.
Caregivers will learn how to reduce stress, improve self- confidence, locate helpful resources and balance their lives while taking care of a physically or mentally impaired relative or friend.
Cost is $25, but there is no charge for members of Blue- Cross BlueShield or Independent Health. Registration is required by calling 858-2177 or e-mail caregiver@erie.gov.

Diversified Rehabilitation Services offers audiology care, occupational, physical and speech-language therapy from pediatrics to geriatrics. A Community Aphasia Therapy Group will be offered for individuals experiencing communication difficulties as a result of a stroke. The six-week program will meet at 10 a.m. Mondays or at 2 p.m. Fridays beginning Nov. 5. Meetings will be held in the outpatient clinic at 17 Limestone Drive, Suite 5, Williamsville. Independent Living of Niagara County will host a Meet the Candidates Day from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in Earl Bridges Library, 1425 Main St., Niagara Falls. Accommodations for those with disabilities will be available, such as sign language interpreters and an assistive listening system. For information, call 284-4131.

Summit Educational Resources, 150 Stahl Road, Getzville, provides evaluations, school and home-based education and therapeutic services to developmentally disabled children from infancy to 21 years of age and their families. Educational, psychological, s p e e c h and hearing, physical and occupational therapy evaluations are available in all languages to assess eligibility for special- education services, special home and school-based instruction or to determine diagnostic conditions.
