CVCTA Education to Offer Live Case Training for Level I Participants

Strengthening its position as a leader in medical education and improved patient care, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. today announced that its partner, CVCTA Education, will provide access to live case training for ACCF/AHA Level 1 cardiac competency requirements. Typically, live cases are only shown during level II training. CVCTA will use Toshiba's Aquilion™ 64-slice CT to provide physicians with this advanced training.

CVCTA Education, a leading provider of top-tier medical educational programs, has received industry validation of its courses. Recently CVCTA received the most number of positive reviews for its CTA courses in an online physician student review conducted by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). More than 161 physician respondents, the largest segment in the entire survey, submitted positive reviews regarding CVCTA Education. Of CVCTA's responses, 94.5% gave the course a "five," the top ranking on a scale of one-to-five. In addition, physicians were asked to provide written feedback on the course.

CVCTA Education is able to meet physicians' needs and obtain these types of reviews by continuing to provide innovative medical education solutions. For example, the company recently announced its offering of a Peripheral Vascular CTA (PV-CTA) training course -- the first of its kind to exceed the newly published ACCF/AHA Level 2 requirements in the ACCF/AHA Clinical Competence Statement on peripheral vascular Imaging with Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) refers to diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain where there is a narrowing of vessels carrying blood to the legs, arms, stomach and/or kidneys. The most common type of PVD is Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) in which arteries leading to these same regions develop blockages that restrict blood circulation. PVD is common in patients predisposed to vascular diseases, such as those suffering from diabetes. According to an article in Cardiovascular Imaging, an estimated 20-million people have PVD, with three to four million people going misdiagnosed or untreated.
