Nov. 2–Girl power will be on display this weekend at the grand opening of Dallas’ first American Girl Boutique and Bistro.

Company officials are predicting that about 6,000 people will visit the store, which is in its own building at the northwest corner of the Galleria complex.

The Dallas location will be American Girl’s first in the Southwest. The 22,000-square-foot complex, across from Nordstrom and Saks, not only will sell dolls, doll clothing and accessories, but also will feature spaces where girls can take their dolls for a day of beauty and brunch, and party with them in themed private rooms for birthdays and special events.

American Girl also has locations in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.

The “lifestyle” brand, owned by Mattel, caters to girls ages 3 to 12. It started in 1986 as a direct-mail business that sold books and toys featuring young fictional heroines from America’s past eras. Now, there’s a monthly American Girl magazine, made-for-TV movies, clothes, look-alike dolls and full-fledged American Girl Boutique and Bistro.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Reservations are suggested for the bistro. The number for the store is 1-888-777-0010.
