KUALA LUMPUR: The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) wants the Government to introduce specific guidelines to address mental health problems in the workforce.
Its chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, said the neglect of mental health and psycho-social factors at the workplace is not only harmful to workers, but also their families and employers.
He was referring to a recent case of a policeman who killed himself at his workplace in Paroi station.
"We suggest to all OCPDs that greater attention be given to address the mental health issues of police personnel under their charge," he said.
