The United Auxiliaries to the Lancaster General Hospital is observing its 60th anniversary and will celebrate the occasion Saturday, Nov. 17, at its Diamond Ball to be held at the Hamilton Club, 106 E. Orange St.

The event will benefit the Lancaster General College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Funds raised will be used to purchase lab equipment.

The United Auxiliaries, a group of about 800 women, has raised more than $6.5 million for the hospital. The organization has contributed to everything from a “linen fund” to a cancer center to the new emergency room. Funds it’s raised have also gone toward the purchase of an aquatic therapy pool, and a mobile mammography van.

Auxiliary members have also given of their time, donating thousands of volunteer hours to the hospital.

The Nov. 17 ball, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will feature a seated dinner, entertainment by the John King Dance Band and raffle items. Black tie is encouraged.

Tickets, which can be purchased until Nov. 10, are $130 each. Call Toni Dumas at the United Auxiliaries office, 544-4661, or visit the Web site at www.lancastergeneral.org/DiamondBall.
