The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) inc. ("The Jean Coutu Group") (TSX: PJC.A), in cooperation with Diabetes Quebec, is proud to propose again this year the "Taking Control of your Diabetes" Kit for people with diabetes. The Kit is distributed free of charge as of November 3 in all PJC Jean Coutu stores in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. It provides a wide range of useful and practical information to facilitate the management of this disease and raise the level of awareness of diabetics.
The Diabetes Kit includes information on diabetes, a nutritional guide and a recipe book, a DVD on the use of blood pressure monitors, samples of new products and other tools to inform diabetics on the importance of controlling this disease, as well as on the professional health services available at Jean Coutu and the different resources made available to them.
"The secret to living a full life with diabetes consists in managing the disease, i.e. to play an active role in controlling it and to be well informed. The Jean Coutu Group is proud to provide some of the most indispensable tools for precisely that purpose", points out Richard Mayrand, Vice President, Pharmacy and Government Affairs of the Jean Coutu Group.
Moreover, to motivate people with diabetes to join Diabete Quebec, a non-profit organization well-known for its support to its members, The Jean Coutu Group is launching the Living a full life with diabetes contest. Those who apply for membership to Diabetes Quebec (or the Canadian Diabetes Association for people living outside Quebec) by completing a Jean Coutu membership application form available in the Kit and in the PJC Jean Coutu circular between November 3 and 17, will be eligible to the draw of a $4,000 gift-certificate for a sun destination of their choice or a $1,000 gift certificate redeemable in a " Hotellerie champetre " establishment. The draw of the gift certificates is scheduled for December 21, 2007 at the offices of Diabetes Quebec.
People with diabetes wishing to get the Diabetes Kit must complete the form available at the PJC Jean Coutu pharmacy prescription counter or on the Internet site www.jeancoutu.com.
