National Cancer Coalition Appoints Robert Getzenberg to Board of Directors
RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ — The National Cancer Coalition (NCC) http://www.nationalcancercoalition.org/ is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Robert H. Getzenberg, Ph.D. of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to its Board of Directors.
NCC President & Chief Executive Officer Robert B. Landry, III stated, “Dr. Getzenberg’s extensive cancer knowledge is a proven asset to our governing board. As a leading investigator in conducting cancer research, Robert’s expertise in detecting and treating various cancers will be a tremendous help as we seek to fulfill the unmet needs of cancer patients throughout the world.” Landry added, “Dr. Getzenberg’s internationally respected research and product development related to prostate, colon and bladder cancer will provide practical implications for our work with these and other cancers.”
Dr. Getzenberg serves as the Donald S. Coffey Professor and Director of Research of the Brady Urological Institute and Professor of Urology, Oncology and Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He is the author of over 100 peer reviewed journal articles, chapters, and books. Dr. Getzenberg is the recipient of numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health and other government agencies and foundations.

In many parts of the world there exist significant gaps in cancer care, where patients are typically not able to access the latest in cancer treatments. The NCC has done an amazing job at leading this effort to fulfill gaps and improve access.”
NCC, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, supports cancer relief, research and educational programs throughout the world. The Coalition’s international medical assistance program, termed NCC Cares, provides requested pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and hospital supplies to public hospitals and local humanitarian organizations that help needy patients in over 40 developing countries around the world.
The NCC Provides program awards financial assistance to needy cancer patients in the U.S., helping to fulfill many of the unmet expenses associated with their required treatments. Through its Angel Grants program, NCC supports cutting-edge pediatric cancer research. The Coalition also develops and distributes educational materials, resources, and televised public service announcements.
