Mental Health Awareness
WHETHER it’s stress at work, depression, schizophrenia or dementia, one in four people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life.
This means that if you don’t experience the problems yourself, the chances are that someone you know will.
Bournville College is trying to raise awareness about mental health conditions by offering free seminars to local carers, social workers and anyone interested in these issues.
The first seminar, Experiencing Schizophrenia, will run on Monday November 26, from 7pm to 9pm. It will explore various delusions that people have and how we can respond to them.
The second seminar, How Do We Make Sense of Dementia?, will look at emotional and intellectual aspects of the illness, in addition to the memory loss. This will be on Tuesday November 27, 7-9pm.
Both seminars, run by lecturer Patrick Evans, will be held at Bournville College, on Bristol Road South. Places are limited.
To book your free place, call Lynn Harris on 0121 483 1193.
