AMA Honors Former Indiana State Medical Association Executive

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Medical Association (AMA) presented Rick King, former executive director of the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA), with the 2007 Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given by the AMA to honor a medical association executive who has contributed substantially to the goals and ideals of the medical profession during a significant term of service.

"The AMA is pleased to recognize Rick King with this award for his legacy of accomplishments on behalf of Indiana physicians and the patients they serve," said AMA Board Chair Edward Langston, M.D.

King served the ISMA for 29 years. During that time he diligently worked to ensure the Indiana Medical Malpractice Act remained intact and effective for Indiana physicians. In addition to his work with the ISMA, King also acted as chair of the AMA Litigation Center, director of the Indiana Medical Political Action Committee and was a member of the Governor's Task Force on Health Insurance for Children.

King received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from the governor of Indiana for distinguished service to the state. He graduated from Ball State University in 1971 B.S. and received my law degree from Indiana University in 1975

King was presented with the 2007 Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award Saturday during the AMA's semi-annual policy-making meeting.
