The 2008 Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan open enrollment period begins November 15, and Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) pharmacies are once again committed to educating seniors so they can make informed decisions about the best plan choice for their prescription needs. All Rite Aid pharmacies are offering a free detailed Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Guide. In addition, Rite Aid pharmacists are trained on Medicare Part D to help seniors and caregivers navigate through the numerous plan options. Rite Aid also has a special website, www.riteaid.com/medicareadvisor, which allows patients to compare drug prices and get a complete list of plan options offered in their local area.

To educate its pharmacy patients 65 years and older on the various Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan options, Rite Aid has partnered with national Medicare prescription drug plan sponsors AARP/United Healthcare, Aetna and Wellpoint to provide detailed and useful in-store educational materials. The free Medicare Part D Guide contains information and step by step suggestions to help seniors pick the Medicare Part D plan that best suits their individual prescription needs.

"Rite Aid is committed to making sure our senior patients are fully educated and understand the Medicare prescription drug benefit," said Mark de Bruin, executive vice president, pharmacy. "We've teamed up with leaders in the managed care industry to create user friendly, detailed information on the Medicare Part D benefits as well as helpful step by step tips to help them determine the best Medicare Part D plan for their prescription needs. In addition, our 14,000 Rite Aid pharmacists are available to answer questions and offer explanation on the intricacies of the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit."

Rite Aid's Medicare Advisor website at www.riteaid.com/medicareadvisor allows seniors to enter their current prescriptions and then sort through comparable plans and local availability. The website will have all pertinent information on the 2008 program on November 15th, including information on the Plan benefits, deadlines for registering and details of each Plan so seniors can compare Plans side by side. Some Plans include a link to online enrollment forms.

Rite Aid also offers senior pharmacy customers 60 years and older additional benefits through its free loyalty program Living More. Living More members receive a ten percent discount on most items every Tuesday, a ten percent discount on cash prescriptions everyday, a ten percent discount on Rite Aid Brand products everyday and exclusive specials throughout the store Seniors can sign up for the free program, which now has three million members, at any Rite Aid pharmacy counter.

Rite Aid Corporation is one of the nation's leading drugstore chains with approximately 5,100 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia. Information about Rite Aid, including corporate background and press releases, is available through the company's website at http://www.riteaid.com.

Note: The Living More cash prescription discount is not offered in California due to the state mandated discount program for senior patients.
