Opus Launches Wireless Clinical Information System for Hospitals

Posted on: Monday, 12 November 2007, 12:00 CST

Opus Healthcare Solutions, a provider of clinical information systems, has debuted OpusMobility. The new product enables physicians to continue monitoring their patient's lab results and diagnostic reports outside of the hospital at home, the office or on-the-road using WiFi or cell phone secure networks.

OpusMobility operates on industry standard Microsoft PDA and smart phone devices. The system has been beta-tested for 12 months at a Southern California hospital system operated by Universal Health Services and will now be marketed to hospitals and health systems nationwide. OpusMobility is one of the OpusClinicalSuite series of truly web-based products which include systems for clinical documentation, order management, computerized physician order entry, medication administration, Web portals for remote physician access, and laboratory workflow.

The OpusClinicalSuite is one of the few web-based (vs. simply web-enabled) clinical information systems available. Because it uses an integrated HL7/XML interface engine to collect disparate clinical data from other systems in the facility, the Opus solution provides a single point-of-access for clinicians to retrieve all patient clinical information from one application, rather than having to jump between different applications or access points. OpusMobility can improve patient care by enabling physicians with real-time access to the most up-to-date patient diagnostic information for accurate and timely physician directed care.
