Global Health Support Service Benchmark Study to Combat Growing Healthcare Costs and Prepare for Likely Health Care Reforms

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- A new benchmarking study was launched today to measure the cost and efficiencies of US hospitals and healthcare providers.
The study compares US hospitals' support services with hospitals in their own state, across the US, and internationally.
"This study could be a real eye opener ... finding those effective practices that could save costs or release big gains in productivity" Global Benchmarking Director, Chris Bishop said.
Reduced costs, improved efficiency and smarter risk management are among the key benefits found in a range of core performance areas of previous benchmarking studies.
Mr. Bishop said that, "the previous international studies had resulted in substantial cost reduction for hospitals. This included hospitals reducing their vehicle claims by up to 43% per year, and improving the energy efficiency of buildings. Many of the gains have been painless to the hospitals often from negotiating with suppliers based on true market information."
The unique aspect of this study is that it focuses on the key support service inputs to driving better clinical outcomes. The study measures and compares each hospitals performance to identify areas of improvement.
This is the fourth benchmarking study of its kind undertaken since 1999. The first two studies were led by former accounting giant, Arthur Andersen. Reset Group further developed this initiative to provide clients with relevant, accurate and independent data presented to best meet the expectations of management and stakeholders.
Mr. Bishop expects around 750 Hospitals and healthcare providers to participate in the study. Each individual hospital can participate online at http://www.resetgroup.com/. Only those organizations who submit data will be allowed to view the performance reports.
Reset Group was created in 2002 from former staff of global management consulting firms, Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. Reset Group has offices based in Los Angeles, London, Sydney and Wellington.
