Health Access Solutions Marks One-Year Milestone With North America Medical Management (NAMM); Access Express(TM) Software Installed at 13 NAMM IPAs
Posted on: Monday, 3 December 2007, 15:00 CST
Health Access Solutions, the software division of Pacific Partners Management Services, Inc. (PPMSI) today announced that they have completed installation of its Access Express automated decision support system to streamline communications and utilization management in 13 North American Medical Management California (NAMM) owned or managed IPAs. Health Access Solutions also hosts the application.
The roll out of the web-based communications system links NAMM's 10 administrative offices and numerous off-site review nurses and medical directors, with their more than 1,500 providers and vendors.
Randall D. Frakes, acting CEO for PPMSI, says, "We are proud of our association with NAMM and consider them a very important member of our growing family of software licensees."
Frakes explains, "NAMM wanted to gain significant medical management efficiencies and improved patient care. Beginning with Mercy Physicians Medical Group, we worked closely with NAMM on completing their aggressive rollout of NAMMNet Express in just six months to more than 650 provider sites within the PrimeCare Network and NAMM managed networks."
Now licensed to manage more than 2 million health plan members, Access Express links hospitals, physicians, medical personnel, and payers to improve provider communications and productivity, resulting in enhanced clinical care, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.
Rodman St. Clair, MD, NAMM's Chief Medical Officer and Senior VP for Medical Management, says, "We found what we needed and more with Access Express decision support tools to streamline communications and utilization management. The software is easy to use, which is critical for acceptance by our large network of participating physicians and hospitals. We had an existing provider portal and authorization process in place, but the system was not designed to process authorizations fast enough to meet our commitment to our members and providers. The Access Express system instantly reflects changes in provider contracting relationships so we can maximize in-network referrals and it allows most referrals to be arranged before patients leave their primary physician's office. In addition, it has Pay for Performance (P4P) alert capabilities to promote preventive healthcare services for our patients, like mammograms, Paps, and pediatric immunizations."
Dr. St. Clair adds, "We evaluated a number of vendors to find an internet based software that was intuitive to our providers and staff and fully interoperable with our Perot PÉRADIGM™ system and our proprietary case management system. We selected Access Express because it has the functionality and tools we needed to move from a paper-based fax system to an electronic based system that also allows us to manage our complex contract relationships."
NAMM California owns and/or manages 13 independent practice associations (IPAs) throughout the state of California. Access Express will manage and track their authorizations and referrals for approximately 1,500 physicians, approximately 220,000 commercial HMO members, and in excess of 35,000 Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in California's Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Stanislaus counties.
Access Express currently interfaces with NAMM's Perot PÉRADIGM™ system, as well as Perot Diamond®, MZI EZCAP, IDX®, MC400, and Plexis Healthcare systems.
The Access Express software is interoperable with pharmacy, laboratory, disease management, EHR, EMR, and PHR third party products. It includes decision support tools fully customizable for each client--including protocols, guidelines, and care tips that automate referrals and authorizations to deliver instant answers to most provider inquiries. Access Express clients include health plans, IPA administrators, medical groups, specialty providers, community health systems, and hospitals.
