Integrative Health Technologies, Inc. (IHTI) Begins Study of Its Employee and Medical Patients Wellness Tracking Program
Posted on: Tuesday, 4 December 2007, 00:00 CST
Integrative Health Technologies (IHTI) (OTCBB:IHTI) launched its clinical study evaluating the effectiveness and return-on-investment of its computerized wellness tracking program for employers and physicians. The program is designed around a simple, but proven, behavior modification principle--what gets measured, gets managed. It can provide valuable information to users, employers and physician-based treatment plans. A previous study reported following the on-line portion of the program not only led to healthier cholesterol levels and reduced excess body fat, but also led to increased work load productivity, fewer medical claims, fewer unscheduled days off, and reduced pharmaceutical costs. These changes can result in a profound ROI considering the $1.00 and $3.00 a month per person cost of the program.
IHTI serves the healthcare and nutritional industry providing: (1) consulting and product/technology R & D, (2) on-site biometric testing and employee-medical wellness programs, and (3) independent clinical trials validating the safety and efficacy of health-enhancing products. See www.ihtglobal.com for an expanded version of this and other press releases and filings.
IHTI's program includes tracking daily steps as recorded from the same high-quality pedometer supplied by HealthTech Products (210.274.6193) that it has used in its research for over 15 years. "Our experience with these pedometers," said IHTI scientific advisor, Dr. Harry G. Preuss of Georgetown University, "is consistent with the Nov 21, 2007 report in the Journal of the American Medical Association that wearing a pedometer and tracking daily steps can lead to significant health benefits." As the JAMA study's lead investigator from Stanford University reported to the Los Angeles Times, the device "is a great little motivator... I never anticipated such a small intervention could have such a big effect."
Forward-Looking Statement: Although this release does not make forward-looking public statements concerning the Company's expected future operations, performance or other developments, one should be cautious in interpreting the health benefits of the on-line tracking program until we've evaluated them in our own research. While there is a great deal of research reporting similar benefits of employee wellness and patient-tracking programs, we do not at this time have adequate data to suggest that our version of the program will have similar results.
