CareSpark Selects Wellogic to Provide Unified View of Patient Electronic Medical Records Across Central Appalachian Region

Wellogic, a physician portal and electronic medical records software company, today announced that CareSpark, a non-profit regional health information organization (RHIO) serving Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, has selected Wellogic® Consult as its physician portal. The award-winning solution will provide a unified view of patient data exchanged via CareSpark's health information exchange and connected electronic health records systems. In so doing, Wellogic joins companies like ActiveHealth Management, AllScripts, CGI, Cisco Systems, Dell, GE Healthcare, Intel, Initiate Systems, Misys, Quovadx, Oracle, Siemens Medical Solutions and others in the CareSpark Consortium.
CareSpark has chosen Wellogic's Consult physician portal solution to give its community of providers access to unified patient charts across participating organizations and to enable community-wide workflows and messaging. In keeping with CareSpark's commitment to the use of an interoperable architecture as defined by Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), this Wellogic deployment will federate access to patient information via IHE-compatible electronic medical records and electronic health records systems, while also utilizing more traditional interfaces to connect to those not yet IHE-enabled. Consult itself will facilitate participation and enhance workflow for the majority of medical practitioners in the community, many of whom do not yet use an electronic medical record or electronic health record system.
"CareSpark has made much progress in building a collaborative effort to improve health outcomes and efficiencies in care delivery in our region," said Liesa Jenkins, CareSpark's executive director. "Wellogic is an excellent partner for us not only because of the flexibility of their architecture and readiness to conform to IHE standards, but more importantly, their long-range vision and their experience in working with physicians and communities as a true partner. Through their responsiveness to our needs and their willingness to work with us to reach our goals, Wellogic has demonstrated their commitment to our success--making them a stand-out in the healthcare information technology marketplace."
Wellogic adds CareSpark to its growing list of physician portal and health information exchange clients, in particular the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative and Richmond's MedVirginia, a recipient--along with CareSpark and several other communities--of a federal contract for trial implementations of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN). Wellogic provides these clients with a range of components to support their health information exchange infrastructures, as well as physician portal, patient portal, care management, and electronic medical records solutions.
"We are proud to welcome CareSpark as a partner to Wellogic. We share a vision for improving care delivery through secure access to patient electronic medical records regardless of care venue," said Wellogic president and CEO Sumit Nagpal. "We are committed to leveraging this information to better enable clinicians and patients to develop and follow a care plan. And we are equally determined to establish a foundation to leverage this information for clinical decision support and population-based analytics over time, and to connect with other communities, as we will demonstrate by participating with CareSpark's NHIN trial implementation."
