Stemedica Cell Technologies Strengthens Clinical Leadership Team

Stemedica Cell Technologies (“Stemedica”) announced today the addition of Paul A. Frohna, MD, PhD, PharmD, to the company’s management team as Vice President, Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs. Paul joins Stemedica from FibroGen, Inc., where he has been serving as Acting Vice President for Clinical Development.

“We are pleased and delighted to have someone with as strong a background as Paul. As we transfer nearly three decades of successful clinical application of adult stem cell therapy from Russia to the United States and other parts of the world, his experience and expertise in designing and conducting FDA-approved clinical studies in relevant therapeutic areas will be an important part of our continued growth and development”, said Nikolai I. Tankovich, MD, PhD, FASLMS, President & Chief Medical Officer of Stemedica.

Dr. Frohna’s educational background includes an undergraduate pharmacy degree with Honors from the University of Texas; a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with a thesis on neuronal plasticity; an MD from Georgetown University Medical Center; and an Internal Medicine Certificate from Austin Medical Education Programs at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.

In addition to his leadership role at FibroGen, Dr. Frohna’s professional experience includes service as Head of Clinical Pharmacology at CV Therapeutics; Medical Director for Specialty Bio Therapeutics at Genentech; research roles at Georgetown University and Biotext, Inc.; and teaching roles at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Texas.

As Vice President, Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs for Stemedica, Dr. Frohna’s duties will include the design and conduct of clinical studies implemented at hospitals and research facilities located in the United States and in select markets around the world which incorporate appropriate clinical endpoints and outcome measures; secure appropriate regulatory review and approval for those clinical studies; and serve as liaison point person with all regulatory agencies in territories in which Stemedica has a Licensed Treatment Center relationship.
