# In the early 90s studies said HRT had a protective benefit in preventing bone loss that could lead to osteoporosis.
# In the mid-90s there were studies suggesting HRT offered a protective benefit for coronary heart disease.
# Experts say that, in the short term, the benefits can out- weigh the risks due to the improvements to quality of life with the relief of menopausal symptoms.
#Up to 75 per cent of British women over 50 complain of significant menopausal problems. For many of them, HRT has proved a cure for insomnia, headaches and irritability.
#HRT also eases severe symptoms of the menopause, including night sweats and hot flushes.
#Many have attested to the life-enhancing benefits of HRT, which, post-menopause, has brought a bloom to their skin and prolonged their sex lives.
#HRT significantly increases the life expectancy of older women, but only if they begin taking the drugs soon after the menopause starts. #An analysis of 30 trials involving a total of 26,708 women found that the benefits of the treatment outweigh therisks, so long as it is started before a woman reaches 60. The findings were revealed by a team from Stanford University in California.
#Marcelle D'Argy Smith, former editor of Cosmopolitan magazine is a fan of HRT. She revealed she's used HRT for the last eight years. D'Argy Smith has admitted to feeling 'pretty damn good,' on HRT.
