Offer for Quitters
FREE nicotine replacement therapy will be on offer for smokers determined to kick their habits for good.
New stop-smoking sessions will start in the new year across North Tyneside, giving people the chance to give up with extra help from health experts and nicotine products such as gum or patches.
The first drop-in session will be held at Shiremoor Resource Centre on January 8, from 3pm to 6pm.
The following day, people will be able to call in to the YMCA in North Shields, from 11am to 2pm, and the Lakeside Centre, Killingworth, between 3pm and 6pm.
Tyne Met College, on the Coast Road, will hold a drop-in stop smoking session on January 10, from 11am to 2pm.
North Tyneside public health nurse Deborah Porter said: “At the sessions smokers will be assessed for their motivation to quit and then a 12-week support plan will be drawn up.”
For more information about quitting, call (0191) 219 5111.
