North Carolina Coalition on Donation Selects Corder Philips for Newest Campaign

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Recent developments regarding North Carolina's organ and tissue donation protocol have prompted the North Carolina Coalition on Donation to hire Corder Philips to aid in the campaign to increase organ and tissue donors.

These developments include a grant received from the License to Give Trust Fund Commission, enabling the Coalition to update their online registry and increase outreach efforts by allowing potential donors to register online. Additionally, new legislation has changed the existing North Carolina Registry of donors from one of intent to legal consent. Previous to the passing of this law, a donor's wishes could be overturned by the family.

Corder Philips will employ its full range of services in order to promote the new online registry and ultimately increase the number of donors in the state by prompting the public to act immediately upon donation messages. The success of the campaign will be tracked and measured through the number of people who register online.

Increasing the number of organ and tissue donors in North Carolina is a crucial effort. Despite recent gains, North Carolina, as well as many other states, still remains dangerously low in the number of registered organ and tissue donors. As of May 2007, there were 2,974 citizens in the state waiting for an organ transplant, compared to only 116 registered donors.
