BIKE racers are a special breed . . . for a start they always remember the fans pay their wages!
That's why there are few big heads in MotoGP, World Superbike or British Superbike.
And that's also why MotoGP champ Valentino Rossi, WSB champ James Toseland and BSB champ John Reynolds all signed up for a festive prize for Bike Times readers.
They know their success is down to their skills, the fans' loyalty . . . and the world's best orthopaedic surgeons.
Everyone remembers Barry Sheene and his leg X-ray after a 160mph crash left him with more steelwork than the Forth Bridge.
But today racers are climbing back on the bike with injuries that would sideline an ordinary athlete.
Paula Radcliffe may have thought she had it tough as she quit the marathon ? what about Scot Niall Mackenzie breaking an ankle, then borrowing an XXL boot and winning the second race just two hours later?
Or Rizla Suzuki's new BSB champ John Reynolds who raced with a broken collarbone - and won the title.
In WSB, new champ James Toseland has fought back after crashes that left him with two broken legs.
One man who rarely crashes, is Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha's Valentino Rossi.
MotoGP champion for the fourth time in a row, he's also the last rider to win the world 500cc title, and the first to win the MotoGP title on two different makes of bike.
That's why Rossi was first on the list for our festive giveaway.
There's a signed cap and posters from the MotoGP champion, a signed polo shirt from the WSB's Toseland and John Reynolds has signed copies of the Crescent Suzuki Playstation 2 game and Seeing Red, the spectacular book of photos of the British Superbike season.
To win them all send a postcard to Bike Times, Evening Times, 200 Renfield Street, Glasgow, G2 3QB and answer this question:
Who was the last rider to win the world 500cc title?
Answers by January 6.
