Top Care Korea Ltd., the Korean market leader in the high technological medical devices including capsule endoscopy, and Exalenz, a global leader in diagnostic device(BreathID® System) of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, announced on Dec. 23, 2007 the signing of a strategic agreement. The goal of the agreement is to build closer collaboration between the companies in marketing and product distribution in Korea. The agreement also grants Top Care Korea exclusive rights to distribute Exalenz's BreathID® System in Korea. Top Care Korea has a plan to launch BreathID® System in first half of 2008.
"We are pleased to be working closely with Exalenz," said Hyun Mo Chung, CEO of Top Care Korea. "Together with Exalenz, we will provide a powerful set of diagnostic tools for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disease. We believe this agreement will immediately strengthen our competitive position."
"We are proud to partner with Top Care, Korea, a leading medical device player in Korea. Korea is highly advanced market with superior medical community and is an encore for our activity in Asia. Together with Top Care we will make the BreathID a standard in the diagnostics of liver and gastrointestinal diseases in Korea," said Dr. Uri Geiger, CEO of Top Care.
Dr. Myung Gyu, Choi, the professor of the Catholic University of Korea said, "The test using specific 13C labeled substrates can be applied to different target organs or disorders, that is, detecting presence of H. pylori(13C-Urea), Gastric Emptying Rate(13C-octanoic acid), Liver function test. 13C is a stable radioactive isotope without radiation, so this test can be performed for even pregnant women and pediatric patients. The test procedure is very simple. The 13C-labeled substrate is administered to the patient and vital diagnostic information from subtle changes in the patient's exhaled breath is extracted. Its simplicity makes it the best method available for the patients with serious case in intensive care unit or in a hospital room, allowing testing without active patient cooperation."
