Posted on: Monday, 17 January 2005, 09:00 CST
Consumers rated Subway highest among 39 restaurant chains studied when it comes to "satisfaction with healthy/nutritious offerings," according to Technomic Inc.'s recently completed Ahead of the Curve consumer study on health and nutrition issues.
Technomic's Ahead of the Curve study asked over 1,000 consumers to rate their overall health concerns; reveal their lifestyle and dietary strategies; provide opinions regarding food away from home vs. at-home meals; rate top restaurant chains on healthful offerings; and share their expectations for the future. Food-and-beverage suppliers, restaurant chains and industry trade associations sponsored the study.
When consumers were asked how satisfied they are with the healthy/nutritious offerings at 39 top restaurants, they responded: -0- *T % satisfied ----------- Subway 95% Applebee's 90 Boston Market 89 Olive Garden 88 Outback 87 *T
"Our research indicates that consumers are satisfied with the healthy/nutritious offerings at many top chains," says Robert S. Goldin, executive vice president at Technomic Inc. "The study also indicates several chains have significant room for improvement."
