Probe into 999 Pair’s Air Crash
January 1, 2008
INVESTIGATIONS are under way into a light aircraft crash which seriously injured two air ambulance crew members.
Pilot Jim Martin and paramedic Jon Ker were in a “critical but stable condition” in Newcastle General Hospital after their microlight crashed into a copse near Felton in Northumberland on Sunday.
It was a second drama for the pair, both members of the Great North Air Ambulance team.
They were injured in a climbing accident on Ben Nevis less than two years ago, which claimed the life of their colleague, Dr Rupert Bennett.
Mr Ker won a bravery award for saving Mr Martin’s life in the tragedy.
