PARSIPPANY, N.J., Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Ferring Pharmaceuticals today announced a new, improved cost-saving program for patients who are considering fertility treatment, but find the costs a challenge. Ferring's HEART (Helping Expand Access to Reproductive Therapy) Program gives women greater access to fertility medications, saving them as much as $700 on two frequently prescribed fertility treatments. The expanded program now includes both BRAVELLE(R) (urofollitropin for injection, purified) and ENDOMETRIN(R) (progesterone) Vaginal Insert, 100 mg, a new Ferring product for progesterone supplementation, administered following treatment with BRAVELLE.
"In our ongoing effort to increase access to safe, effective fertility treatments, we have expanded our long-time HEART Program to give qualified couples a greater chance to build families," said Olivier Delannoy, Vice President, Infertility, at Ferring. "We believe that cost should not be a barrier to parenthood."
With Ferring's expanded HEART Program, patients can receive up to 10 vials of BRAVELLE free of charge as part of their prescription (for a minimum of 40 vials) and one free box (21 vaginal inserts) of ENDOMETRIN.
How the Program Works
If you are a cash-paying patient and your doctor prescribes a fertility treatment, ask the doctor if these products are right for you and if you qualify for the HEART program.
-- To receive the savings, your doctor must place a HEART sticker on your prescription. -- Take the prescription to a participating pharmacy. Visit http://www.ferringfertility.com/HEART for a list of participating pharmacies. -- Patients who purchase 15 vials or more of BRAVELLE, will receive five vials free -- a $300 value (requires a prescription for 20 vials or more). Patients can double their value by purchasing 30 vials or more of BRAVELLE and receive 10 vials free -- a $600 value (requires a prescription for 40 vials or more). Either way, patients can receive a free box of ENDOMETRIN containing 21 inserts -- a $100 value (requires a prescription for 21 inserts or more).

About ENDOMETRIN
ENDOMETRIN administered as a progesterone vaginal insert is indicated to support embryo implantation and early pregnancy by supplementation of corpus luteal function as part of an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatment for infertile women.
Only physicians thoroughly familiar with infertility treatment should prescribe ENDOMETRIN. In clinical trials (n=860), adverse reactions that occurred at a rate greater than or equal to two percent included: uterine spasm (3% to 4%) and vaginal bleeding (3%). Vaginal irritation, itching, burning or discomfort, urticaria, and peripheral edema were reported at an incidence of less than two percent. ENDOMETRIN is expected to have adverse reactions similar to other drugs containing progesterone (breast tenderness, bloating, mood swings, irritability, and drowsiness).
About BRAVELLE
BRAVELLE, a highly purified human-derived follicle-stimulating hormone (hFSH) for infertility treatment, contains 75 IU of FSH and up to two percent LH activity and is available for both subcutaneous (SC) and intramuscular (IM) injection for ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization (IVF). BRAVELLE, like all gonadotropins, is a potent substance capable of causing mild to severe adverse reactions, including OHSS (incidence of 6.0%), with or without pulmonary or vascular complications, in women undergoing therapy for infertility. Like other products for ovarian stimulation, treatment with BRAVELLE may result in multiple gestations. Only physicians thoroughly familiar with infertility treatment, including the risk of multiple births and adverse reactions, should prescribe these medications.
