Dr. William Winkenwerder Joins Medical Planning Resources, Inc. (MPR)

EAST WINDSOR, N.J., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Planning Resources (MPR), a leading provider of medical and public health planning expertise for enhancing preparedness against complex emergencies and disasters, today announced that Dr. William Winkenwerder has joined MPR. Dr. Winkenwerder will serve as a Senior Executive Consultant to the firm.

Dr. Winkenwerder served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs from 2001 until 2007, maintaining overall responsibility for the entire Military Health System (MHS) with a $40 billion annual budget. During his tenure, he led groundbreaking advances in battlefield medicine, as well as overall medical relief efforts for the Asian tsunami and other disasters and leading preparedness efforts for a possible avian flu or biological attack. Dr. Winkenwerder has worked closely with the National and Homeland Security Councils and with leaders throughout the cabinet. As the Chairman of the International Committee on Military Medicine representing some 90 nations, he was recognized as a globally influential leader in medical readiness.
