Cancer patients are being given a helping hand to get to hospital thanks to Barclays Bank. The Bargoed branch has just donated pounds 500 to the charity Cancer Link Upper Rhymney Valley (CLURV), which provides subsidised transport and volunteer drivers to drive cancer patients to hospital.

Tracey Leeks, branch manager at Bargoed, said: “At Barclays we are committed to looking after local communities and we are delighted to support CLURV. This is a great opportunity for us to help make a real and lasting difference by supporting a range of causes from local schools to centres for old people.”

Arthur Carey, the charity’s founder, said the money would go a long way towards fuel and maintenance costs.
