New Book Explains Why Exercise Is Essential to Reversing Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease; Photo Available

WESTMONT, Ill., Jan. 24 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Need to understand what it takes to prevent or reverse chronic health problems and why exercise is necessary for life? The recently released book, "Reverse Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease" by Nsima T. Obot addresses these issues and more, as the author establishes that metabolic imbalance causes type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, obesity, and many of the dozens of health problems associated with aging. The scientific basis for metabolic imbalance, a simple physical law known as the conservation of mass, asserts that a steady, natural engine such as the body should not store or accumulate mass.
Metabolic imbalance is due to three factors: the existence of a natural limitation on how much mass (food and drink) each person's body can use for vital functions; overeating; and physical inactivity. The characteristic feature of an imbalance is the deposition and storage of fat and unused nutrients in the blood and body tissues. But, as Obot explains in the book, the human body is not designed to carry excess nutrients and fat. "Whether we eat high- carbohydrate, low-calorie diet or low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet or even fast food, an overall balance should be maintained for mass intake," according to Obot.
The result? When people carry excess fat in the body, they also carry excess nutrients (glucose, cholesterol, sodium, etc.) because nutrients dissolve in fat. As the level of excess fat in the blood and body tissues goes up, so does body weight. Eliminating excess fat from the body with daily exercise or maintaining a natural body weight reduces high blood levels of glucose and cholesterol to natural levels and provides the balance for other metabolic variables.
Challenging conventional scientific and medical wisdom, Obot suggests that HDL cholesterol is not "good" and LDL cholesterol is not "bad," as we have been led to believe. The unequal distribution in cholesterol carried through the body between high- density (HDL)- and low-density (LDL)-carrying proteins is due to excess fat. In the absence of excess fat, the cholesterol breakdown is closer to 50 percent HDL-50 percent LDL. Obot also asserts that cholesterol by itself may not be dangerous to the heart. The test results in the book support these observations. Mass intake (food and drink) goes hand-in-hand with exercise, and both are required for life. The primary function of exercise is to help the body reject excess nutrients and fat generated daily from eating and drinking that without exercise remain stored in the body. Daily exercise serves to eliminate these excess nutrients and fat from the body, preventing or reversing chronic health problems such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer and even Alzheimer's. Diet, existing drugs, or a combination of both will neither reverse a metabolic imbalance nor protect against chronic health problems.
