US-based clinical management solutions company Ecardio Diagnostics has launched the eTimer, which is an enhancement to its edge cardiac event monitor, the eTrigger.

According to the company, the eTimer is an automatic data capture device for the eTrigger. It captures and monitors the electro cardiogram (ECG) data at pre-defined and programmable intervals throughout the patient’s cardiac monitoring protocol. It can also be used for patient therapy or clinical study applications such as device monitoring, post-ablation follow-up, drug titration, safety and efficacy assessments and the documentation of normal cardiac function.

Larry Lawson, founder, president and chief executive at eCardio Diagnostics said: “We are excited to release several new and exclusive diagnostic tools and services to further assist cardiology specialists in the diagnosis and management of their patients.”

The company said that it also plans to launch the eSignature information technology services program, which is a customized service offering to develop and implement medical and clinical data management packages. It also facilitates the work-flow, efficiency and operation of academic departments and cardiology practices.

According to research conducted by Freedonia, the US patient monitoring system industry is worth $7 billion in 2006 and the US demand for patient monitoring systems will grow 5.4% annually through 2010.
