HC Innovations Signs Contract With HealthSpring to Provide Medical Management Services to Members Residing in Long-Term Care Facilities

HC Innovations, Inc. (OTCBB: HCNV), a specialty care management company, today announced that it has signed a contract with HealthSpring (NYSE: HS) to provide medical management services to HealthSpring's Tennessee members residing in certain long-term care facilities.
Enhanced Care Initiatives, Inc. (ECI), HC Innovations' wholly owned management subsidiary, will administer services through its NP Care program, a nurse practitioner medical service that works with physicians to bring the best medical care available to residents in long-term care facilities. Long-term care residents of HealthSpring's SpecialCare Medicare Advantage plan which live in facilities covered by the contract with ECI will receive around-the-clock, hands-on care by an on-site ECI nurse practitioner. This care will be supported by ECI's electronic medical records (EMR) system that allows for rapid documentation and capture of accurate diagnosis.
"This is an important opportunity for HC Innovations and represents a win/win/win situation for everyone involved," said David Chess, MD, chief executive officer of HC Innovations. "Combining an insurance product with a state-of-the-art, hands-on program allows us to provide the best medical care for patients residing in nursing homes. Nursing homes are able to provide more acute care to their residents within the facility, thereby maintaining occupancy levels, and the health plan is able to support enhanced services to their members while controlling the cost of care. Most importantly, residents are often able to receive appropriate medical care from a familiar caregiver, within familiar surroundings as opposed to having to endure traumatic hospitalizations or emergency room visits."
Shawn Morris, President of HealthSpring of Tennessee, said, "The SpecialCare plan is specifically designed for older, frailer members. By partnering with HC Innovations' NP Care program, we can combine our efforts to keep these members healthier and improve quality of life for them and their caretakers. We look forward to working closely with HC Innovations to make this benefit available to more members."
