Pacific Partners Management Services Appoints Swati Awsare, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Pacific Partners Management Services, Inc., a leader in managed care information technology that provides contracting, financial, administrative and medical management services and software to medical groups and IPAs, today announced the appointment of Swati Awsare, MD, as Chief Medical Officer, effective February 1.
As CMO, Dr. Awsare will be responsible for the quality and efficiency of the healthcare delivered to 150,000 HMO and Medicare Advantage members in Pacific Partners-managed medical groups SCCIPA (Santa Clara County Individual Practice Association) and Affinity Medical Group. She will direct Utilization Management, Quality Improvement, and Provider Communications and will collaborate with clinical consultant Lawrence A. William MD on the continued development of Access Express. Access Express is Pacific Partners' proprietary web-based software, which is used by over 24,000 physicians in the largest medical groups in California.

Dr. Awsare comes to PPMSI from the San Francisco Health Plan, where she served as Medical Director since 2005, supervising Quality Improvement, Utilization and Care Management, Provider Relations and Pharmacy departments for the 53,000-member health plan.
Previously she practiced internal medicine for ten years and served as a hospitalist at San Mateo Medical Center where she held leadership positions as Vice Chair of Primary Care, Chair of Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and served on the Quality Assurance and Continuing Medical Education committees. Additionally, she served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Associates of San Mateo County IPA as well as the Health Plan of San Mateo's Physician Advisory and Peer Review, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees.
Dr. Awsare is currently a fellow in the Executive Leadership Program sponsored by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, and the University of Southern California's School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and completed her residency at California Pacific Medical Center.
