MapMyWalk Issues a Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge to Members

DENVER, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- MapMyWalk.com, one of the premier sources of community-based fitness content, tools, calculators, and mapping technologies for walkers on the Internet today, has recently issued a challenge to its members to lose weight for Valentine's Day!
Whether losing weight is a surprise for a member's existing significant other, or a personal goal that a member want to achieve in hopes of snagging a great date for Valentine's Day, this challenge aims to provide participants with the motivation they need to lose weight. The flexible challenge allows MapMyRun.com members to specify how much weight they want to lose by Valentine's Day, and provides them with online diet and exercise resources to help them achieve that goal.
While members participate in the Valentine's Day weight loss challenge, they have the option to compete and have their name displayed on the leader board if they make it into one of the top 10 positions for the fastest progress towards their weight loss goal. Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered in a random drawing for prizes. The main prize being promoted in all the MapMyWalk challenges for 2008, however, is the peace of mind that comes with setting a fitness goal and achieving it.
"This is the first of many challenges we plan on issuing in 2008," said MapMyWalk co-founder Kevin Callahan. "We see the challenges as a great way to engage our already active member base and provide them with more of the resources they need to meet their fitness goals." MapMyWalk and its sister sites, MapMyRun.com and MapMyRide.com, plan on issuing more challenges specifically targeted towards runners, cyclists, and walkers throughout the year.
MapMyWalk.com membership is completely free and it only takes a minute or two to register, which removes one of the major barriers to weight loss for many individuals: Weight loss plans can be quite expensive. All of the resources that MapMyWalk provides for diet and exercise are free to access and use.
Individuals interested in participating in the MapMyWalk Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible, as February 14th is quickly approaching!
