Dr Brook trained at Cambridge University, UK, St Thomas's and Great Ormond Street Hospitals, London, UK and Kinderspital Zürich, Switzerland. He achieved a personal chair in Paediatric Endocrinology at University College London in 1989. In 1994, he initiated the London Centre for Paediatric Endocrinology providing a seamless service for infants, children, adolescents and adults between Great Ormond Street and University College London Hospitals. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology at University College London and honorary consulting paediatric endocrinologist to Great Ormond Street and University College London Hospitals. Dr Brook's main research interests are all aspects of paediatric endocrinology, particularly skeletal dysplasias, endocrine damage by radiotherapy, and Turner Syndrome.
Dr. Brown is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Clinical Trials Research in the Endocrine Division at Children's Hospital Boston.
She was the founding director of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology/Diabetes at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center where she rose to the rank of Professor of Pediatrics with tenure. She has authored more than 70 original manuscripts, reviews, editorials and book chapters and is a co-editor of the 5th edition, Brook's Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology. She has played leadership roles in education and clinical practice. She was the Chair of the Program Committee, Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society, a member of the National Academy of Science Committee on Toxicological Assessment of Perchlorate Ingestion and has served on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and Thyroid She was the Editor of the Growth and Development section of Current Opinion in Endocrinology & Metabolism and is currently an Associate Editor of Endocrine Practice and a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, sub-Committee on Pediatric Endocrinology.
