NUTRITION: Inmate Study
January 29, 2008
Scientists are to launch a pounds 1.4 million project examining whether young criminals, including murderers, behave better in prison if they are fed vitamins and other nutritional supplements, it was announced yesterday.
The major project will involve 1,000 inmates at three young offenders’ institutions in England and Scotland.
Experts will monitor whether receiving the full recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals plus a dose of fatty acids affects levels of violence, drug taking and self-harm.
