Posted on: Friday, 1 February 2008, 12:00 CST
eMedTV (www.emedtv.com), a health information Web site that strives to empower its users with reliable and easy-to-understand medical information, today announced that it will focus on 27 different heart health supplements this February in honor of American Heart Month.
For the next 27 days, eMedTV will feature a different supplement on its homepage, including information on whether the supplements work, possible drug interactions, precautions and appropriate dosing. A full library of information on all 27 supplements is also available on the site at any time.
"Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States," said Dr. Art Schoenstadt, MD, founder and president of eMedTV. "In turn, patients often have a lot of questions and concerns about what they should be taking for heart disease, or any of its risk factors, such as diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure."
Some of the most popular supplements that will be featured on the site include: fish oil, flaxseed oil, coenzyme Q10, garlic, folic acid, red yeast rice, vitamin C and selenium.
"American Heart Month is a great reminder for people to take the time and reevaluate their healthcare needs," Dr. Schoenstadt said. "Many consumers turn to supplements to improve their heart health, and we want to help people make educated decisions about which supplements they should consider. After all, the best gift you can give yourself this Valentine's Day is a better understanding of your health."
Last month, eMedTV also dispelled the myths surrounding diet supplements. Based on users' positive feedback, Dr. Schoenstadt decided to continue featuring information on some of the most popular supplements used by his online visitors to improve their health.
Information on heart supplements and other topics related to heart disease is available on eMedTV's heart disease health channel at http://heart-disease.emedtv.com.
