TORONTO - Child-welfare officials now say they have not yet identified a baby girl found abandoned and whimpering in the stairwell of a north Toronto parking garage.
In a release, the Children's Aid Society of Toronto said it would provide an update on the girl at a news conference this afternoon and "announce her name."
However, a spokeswoman says the baby's identity remains unknown, and that the name is one given the girl by the agency.
Police had been appealing for public help in identifying the eight-month-old girl after a passerby found the infant face down on the concrete on Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday, police released a picture of a green car believed linked to the child, but said they had few leads.
The girl was taken to hospital and was said to be in good condition.

Posted by from PEI on 02/15/2008, 08:47 I was wondering how come they dont check with the hospital systems... find out from the hospital's around there any information on the little girl.. ask for a list of names and genders of their baby and race that would help ALOT in finding out where she came from and who atleast the mother is... why doesnt the police and welfare think of these things? |
