Welfare Reps Dub Baby Found in Toronto Stairwell Angelica-Leslie; Girl Fine

TORONTO – A baby girl found abandoned in a cold stairwell in Toronto on Wednesday is reported to be doing well in a foster home, smiling and cooing.
No one has yet come forward to identify the infant, found at a mall parking garage, but the Children’s Aid Society has dubbed her Angelica-Leslie.
David Rivard, executive director for the Toronto branch, says the name was chosen because the chubby-cheeked eight month old is like an angel, and because she was found at Leslie Street and Finch Avenue.
Rivard says they hope the baby’s parents will come forward, but the society will be going to court on Monday to seek guardianship for one month.
Rivard says there are clear signs the little girl was abused.
But he says she slept through the night on Thursday night and appears do be getting better.
