YourCity.MD Introduces Free, Online Legal Corner to Help Doctors Navigate Regulatory Compliance
Posted on: Wednesday, 6 February 2008, 09:01 CST
YourCity.MD LLC (www.YourCity.MD), healthcare's local navigation system with over 300 city-specific and physician-recommended Web sites across the U.S., today announced its new Legal Corner, a free online forum led by attorney Orly R. Rumberg, an expert in healthcare regulatory compliance, to help doctors protect their practice, stay compliant and avoid legal liability.
Every week, Orly Rumberg will focus on examining legal issues and new regulations that impact physicians across the country and field questions on topics that put doctors and their practice at risk, such as HIPAA violations, asset protection, new Stark Law Phase III regulations, contracting tips, physician recruitment and dealing with Medicare.
Physicians with free, basic YourCity.MD membership will be able to read the weekly legal forum and confidentially send questions directly to Orly Rumberg related to each week's topic - answers are posted the following Monday. To access YourCity.MD's Legal Corner, doctors can sign up for free at www.YourCity.MD.
A practicing attorney since 1993, Orly Rumberg is chair of the Healthcare Practice Group at Schwartz Manes Ruby & Slovin in Cincinnati, Ohio, representing healthcare providers and physicians across the country on corporate and regulatory issues. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law teaching Healthcare Enterprise, a frequent speaker on regulatory hot spots and compliance landmines, and a contributor to publications, such as The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati's Compliance Bulletin.
"Most physicians, understandably, are focused on clinical work and ensuring healthy revenue for their practices, but this tends to make them very reactive when it comes to legal compliance," said Rumberg. "YourCity.MD's Legal Corner will distill the top issues for doctors and outline proactive steps to protect their business."
"YourCity.MD's Legal Corner is the perfect complement to our mission of helping doctors not only improve patient care, but access a range of professional help to run their practice more efficiently," said Joe Benza, President and Founder of YourCity.MD.
