Britney Spears’ Life ‘in Danger’

BRITNEY Spears’ parents, appalled at her discharge from hospital against the recommendation of her psychiatrist, said yesterday the pop star’s life was in danger.

In a joint statement, Jamie and Lynne Spears said they were “extremely disappointed” to learn their troubled daughter had been released.

“As parents of an adult child in the throes of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe,” the statement said.

“We are deeply concerned about her safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk.”

After Spears’ release the 26 year old dodged paparazzi as she drove around Los Angeles in a black Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified man.

Spears, who is in a child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, was taken to hospital last month after police were called to her home when she refused to return her sons to a Federline bodyguard after a visit.

She has been in a spiral of increasingly bizarre behaviour since November 2006, when she filed for divorce from Mr Federline.
