Personal Habits of Medical Professionals and the Effect They Have on Patient Recommendation
Curious to know what supplements doctors and nurses rely on to stay healthy? A controversial new study has found that health care professionals take supplements more than consumers.
According to the survey by The Council for Responsible Nutrition, 72% of all physicians and 89% of all nurses take dietary supplements, compared to 68% of consumers as previously reported in a similar study. Importantly, of the health care professionals who take supplements, 85% of physicians and 84% of nurses recommend them to patients… and Ob/Gyns are more likely than Primary Care Physicians and other specialists to recommend them to their patients. Interestingly, however, 62% of physicians and 67% of nurses who are not supplement users still recommend them to their patients. Health expert Dr. Donnica Moore reviews the supplement habits of those overseeing the nation’s health.
