Children's Health Initiative of San Luis Obispo County Announces New Low-Cost Health, Vision and Dental Program for Kids

SLO Healthy Kids to Fill the Gaps in Public Health Safety Net
When: Thursday, February 10, 2005, 11:30 am
What: A luncheon ceremony to announce the launch of the new San Luis Obispo Healthy Kids program -- a low-cost medical, health and dental insurance program for up to 3,000 eligible uninsured children (up to age 19) residing in San Luis Obispo County.
Where: The Madonna Inn, 100 Madonna Road in The Garden Room.
Who: Community and political leaders, funding agency representatives and supporters, along with participating health insurance representatives will commemorate the launch of SLO Healthy Kids together with officials of the "Children's Health Initiative," a 501(3)c non-profit organization incorporated in April 2004 with the mission of "ensuring that all San Luis Obispo children have access to health care."
Among the speakers who will participate in the formal ceremony:
-- Dr. Rene Bravo, president of the Children's Health Initiative
-- County Superintendent of Schools, Julian Crocker, Office of Education
-- District 4 County Supervisor K.H. "Katcho" Achadjian, chair, First 5 San Luis Obispo
-- Joel Diringer, JD, MPH, Commissioner, First 5 San Luis Obispo
-- Bob Brownstein, Working Partnerships, USA
Other Information: Also on hand to help discuss the administration of SLO Healthy Kids will be representatives from these participating insurance organizations:
-- Santa Barbara Regional Health Authority
-- Delta Dental of California
-- Safeguard (vision)
Photo Opportunities: Representatives from community health care organizations will be on hand to discuss how SLO Healthy Kids program fills a vital need for improved health within our community.
