Verkouw is Good Friday Speaker

The Lancaster Family YMCA will hold its 55th Good Friday breakfast at 6:30 a.m. March 21 at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road. The buffet breakfast will begin at 6 a.m.; doors open at 5:50 a.m.

The keynote address, “Jesus Is Thirsty – What About You?” will be presented by the Rev. Stephen Verkouw, lead pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in the city. A graduate of Gettysburg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, he was ordained in 1989 in Pittsburgh and served as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Beaver Falls, from 1989-1995. He joined Grace Lutheran in 1995.

The Moravian Brass Choir, directed by Marilyn Winfield, will provide music for the ecumenical program. The pianist for the service will be John Saeger and the featured soloist will be David Felty. The invocation and the benediction will be presented by the Rev. Scott Fischer, executive director of the Lancaster County Council of Churches.
