VALLEJO, Calif., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ — Nationally recognized bariatric surgeon John Husted, M.D., is now seeing patients in Solano County.

A native Californian and third generation physician, Dr. Husted received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his M.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco. Before returning to the San Francisco area in 2006, he served as medical director for Bariatric Services at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., and as medical director and co-founder of the Metabolic Surgery Center at Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Husted has made surgery for the treatment of obesity his professional focus. Over the past decade, he has performed the full spectrum of bariatric procedures available in the U.S., including revision/conversion procedures for failed or otherwise complicated previous bariatric operations.

“It’s great to be back working and living in the area where I grew up,” says Husted. “I am looking forward to being able to serve the community, and to a strong relationship with the professional staff at Sutter Regional Medical Foundation.”

Currently, Dr. Husted is going through the credentialing process in order to perform surgeries at Sutter Fairfield Surgery Center. Area residents who want to learn more about weight loss surgeries and procedures are invited to his seminars the third Monday of every month at the Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus, 2700 Low Court.

Dr. Husted enjoys keeping up with the latest technological advancements in his field by being an active committee member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS), and he also serves as the Physician Advisor for the Walk from Obesity. In addition, he is a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO), the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), the DS Institute, the American Nutraceutical Association (ANA), the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA), and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
