MEDecision Introduces Alineo Clinical Programs
Posted on: Tuesday, 26 February 2008, 09:01 CST
MEDecision, Inc. (Nasdaq: MEDE), a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, has announced the general availability of Alineo™ Clinical Programs for its recently released Alineo Collaborative Health Care Management Platform. Alineo Clinical Programs provides a series of case and disease management care pathways that help health care payers to maximize the efficiency of care management initiatives in order to improve the quality and affordability of care.
"The Alineo Clinical Programs component brings advanced clinical data to care managers, giving them immediate access to the best processes and procedures for managing patient care," said MEDecision Founder and CEO David St.Clair. "As a result, payers can effectively and efficiently intervene with members to optimize care and maintain costs. Alineo Clinical Programs makes Alineo an even more powerful and dynamic collaborative health care management platform."
Alineo Clinical Programs is comprised of clinical care pathways that help payers formulate appropriate plans of care for more than 30 different conditions, including asthma, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease and diabetes. The pathways present the optimal treatment procedures for each disease based on the most recent medical literature, best consensus statements from expert societies and the documented opinions of experts in relevant medical fields.
Alineo Clinical Programs uses national standards from leading independent authorities including the American Diabetes Association; American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association; and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute as guidelines for generating questionnaires that care managers can use to collect information during member interactions. Based on the patient's responses, the technology automatically produces a problem list and proposes member-specific interventions and goals which are then communicated to both the patient and the primary care provider.
In addition, Alineo Clinical Programs automatically creates an "Ask Your Doctor" information worksheet that allows patients to have more informed discussions with providers. It also prompts care managers at designated time intervals to revisit the patient's case to ensure the application of prescribed care.
"Alineo Clinical Programs is a very comprehensive resource," added St.Clair. "It furnishes payers with reliable and accurate clinical content, along with embedded state-of-the-art best practices validated by evidence-based medicine. That combination allows care managers to streamline and automate a great deal of their workload. Alineo Clinical Programs provides each care manager with the same level of clinical knowledge to create individual plans of care, which improves the quality and consistency of interventions and outcomes."
MEDecision publicly introduced Alineo on January 15 as its completely re-architected collaborative health care management platform. Alineo provides a simplified, smart and state-of-the-art model designed to help health plans improve the quality, safety and affordability of care.
The components that currently comprise Alineo include: Alineo Reporting, Alineo Correspondence, Alineo Automated Approvals, Alineo Clinical Intelligence, Alineo Care Management Analytics and Alineo Clinical Summaries. An additional component, Alineo Clinical Criteria, will be added in the coming months.
