STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Thomson Healthcare (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) umbrella contract under CMS' Medicaid Integrity Program's Review of Providers procurement.
Under this umbrella award, Thomson Healthcare will be eligible to compete for the awarding of a task order to assist CMS Medicaid program integrity efforts by reviewing the actions of Medicaid providers to identify potentially fraudulent Medicaid payments. Fraud, waste, and abuse will be detected by analyzing Medicaid claims and forwarding fraud leads to the Medicaid Integrity Program's Audit of Providers contractors, which will be tasked by CMS to conduct audits of the providers.
Thomson Healthcare currently supports 17 state Medicaid agencies, CMS One Program Integrity (One PI), CMS Program Safeguard Contractor (PSC), CMS Medicare Drug Integrity Contractor (MEDIC), and CMS Part A and Part B Medicare Administrative Contractor (A/B MAC) programs. Thomson does this by providing decision support solutions including business intelligence applications, analytic and reporting capabilities, fraud and abuse detection and investigation, analytic database development, data warehousing, data mining, data matching and analysis, financial analysis, quality measurement, provider profiling, patient health records, patient information and activation tools, consulting, and custom research.
"We are excited about the opportunity to use our best in class decision support capabilities to assist CMS with detection and investigation of healthcare fraud, waste and abuse", said Pate McCartney, Thomson Healthcare vice president and general manager for federal and state.
