Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Selects Aegis Health Group to Bring Health-Management Initiatives to Local Employers

Posted on: Monday, 3 March 2008, 09:01 CST

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, one of Michigan's premiere healthcare systems, is partnering with Nashville-based Aegis Health Group to offer health-improvement initiatives to local employers and their employees. Aegis, the nation's leading healthcare business development company, assists hospitals in ascertaining employees' health risks and effectively linking medical centers' programs and services with identified health-related needs.

Aegis provides the tools and experience along with an employer relations specialist who will reside within the medical center to coordinate the effort. Through this partnership, it is expected that employee health will be improved while employer healthcare costs will be reduced. Employers participating in these programs repeatedly recognize significant dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures. Aegis' program can currently be found in more than 4,000 employer sites across the country.

Using data gathered through personal health profiles, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System will match at-risk employees with appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives offered by the hospitals and health centers.

"As a leading healthcare provider in southeast Michigan, we want to help people better manage their health by providing programs that specifically address their unique needs," said Steve Paulus, vice president of planning and business development for Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. "The timing couldn't be better, as employers are actively looking for ways to reduce health-related costs."
