The Health Alliance's Dennis Robb Wins 2008 Corris Boyd Leadership and Diversity Award From Federation of American Hospitals

Posted on: Monday, 3 March 2008, 09:01 CST

Dennis Robb, senior vice president, supply chain management, The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, was recently awarded the 2008 Corris Boyd Leadership and Diversity Award from The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH). Robb was nominated for the award by DeAnna Herrin, senior vice president, contracting services, and David Klumpe, senior vice president, enterprise accounts, Broadlane.

The Corris Boyd Leadership and Diversity Award was established by FAH to pay tribute to the late Corris Boyd and honor a company or individual who has made an outstanding contribution in fostering leadership and supplier diversity in the healthcare industry.

"When Ken Hanover, CEO of the Health Alliance, set a goal to increase supplier diversity and economic inclusion, he chose Dennis as the executive sponsor to lead the initiative," said Ruby Kern, vice president, enterprise accounts, Broadlane. "Dennis' charge was to increase diverse supplier spending from $5 million to $23 million, but first he needed the appropriate infrastructure. One of the first things he did was work with Broadlane to create a process for tracking and strategic implementation of the initiative."

In 10 months, The Health Alliance reached and exceeded the $23 million target with certified diverse suppliers and was recognized with awards from the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. The number of diverse suppliers grew 360 percent over a year.

"We are very proud of our economic inclusion program and the tremendous growth it has experienced over the past several years," said Gloria Haffer, Esq., board chair of The Health Alliance. "Our achievements are directly related to the leadership and talent Dennis Robb brought to this initiative. He skillfully fostered an environment of cooperation, inclusion and commitment throughout the system that took us to new heights in supplier diversity. We congratulate Dennis on this outstanding recognition and thank him for his leadership of this initiative, which has given back more than $43 million to our community in two years."

"The Health Alliance is a model client, and we support their commitment to supplier diversity," said Herrin. "Dennis' priority has always been seeking diverse suppliers, and he has such a passion for this initiative. There is nobody more deserving of this award."
