MediCall Files UR Plan With California Division of Workers' Compensation
Posted on: Wednesday, 5 March 2008, 15:01 CST
California based MediCall, a specialized healthcare services provider, today announced that it has filed its Utilization Review (UR) Plan with the California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC). The announcement coincides with MediCall going into production with its California UR program; designed with the goal of facilitating a cost effective provision of quality healthcare for California injured workers.
The MediCall plan was designed in accordance with California regulatory requirements and URAC WCUM (Workers' Compensation Utilization Management) standards. The MediCall UR program supports a wide range of reviews: prospective, concurrent, retrospective and appeals. First level reviews will be handled by MediCall's BSN prepared Registered Nurse team, with second level reviews being managed by MediCall's URAC accredited peer review partner.
"We are pleased to announce the filing of our plan with the California DWC and are excited to offer our services to California's injured workers," commented John Chess, MediCall's CEO. "MediCall's UR program has been designed to meet the high quality and stringent accreditation standards outlined by URAC while also ensuring that we are compliant with California's specific requirements."
MediCall's California UR program is the company's first step toward a national utilization program, expected to be fully implemented later this year. The application for certification as a Texas Utilization Review Agent is already under review by the Texas Department of Insurance.
