West County: March Kicks Off With Dancing, at West County Library

Tonight it’s dance time at the West County Area library.
As part of Teen Tech Week, the library at 1325 Annapolis Road in Odenton will host a Dance, Dance Revolution party from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today. Participants are invited to show their latest dance moves and compete with other fans of DDR. For newcomers, there will be a chance to try out the interactive video dance program.
When not dancing, attendees will be able to share their latest tech toys with each other.
The library also will offer a class on basic genealogy from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Participants can learn how to use popular genealogy databases such as “Ancestry Library Edition” and “Heritage Quest.” Library patrons are welcome to begin a family search using library Web site resources.
Registration is recommended for this event.
A Geneology II class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on March 18 for those with a basic knowledge in the databases who would like more detailed information. Registration for this class is available.
March is “Art in Our Schools” Month. All county library branches will be displaying artwork from area public elementary schools during the month.

Golden bingo
The Howard L. Turner American Legion Post 276 Ladies Auxiliary will host a golden bingo on Sunday at the post, 8068 Quarterfield Road in Severn.
The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for lunch and a bake sale. The games will begin at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for 12 hard cards for a total of 20 games. The games will include 15 $50 games, four $75 games and one $250 game. Extra cards are three for $1.
In cases of more than one winner, all prizes will be divided equally.
There also will be door prizes, eight specials, seven split pots and one winner-take-all game. Fifty-fifty tickets are available for $1.
No children will be admitted.
The hall is nonsmoking.
Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary’s community projects.
Donations of nonperishable food for the North County Emergency Outreach Network are also appreciated.

DAV meeting
The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13 and its auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Howard L. Turner American Legion Post 276, 8068 Quarterfield Road in Severn.

Community prayer
New Life Fellowship Baptist Church, 7605 Harmans Road in Hanover, will host a community prayer time from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
The church also conducts a free lunchtime Bible study at noon on Thursdays and an evening Bible study at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Reiki classes
St. Bernadette’s parish health ministry will offer Reiki in the wellness circle starting at 7 p.m. at the church, 801 Stevenson Road in Severn.
The intent of Reiki is to give participants a way for one to connect with healing ability to restore balance and harmony to the physical, mental and emotional levels of one’s being.

Join the Glen Burnie Elks Lodge 2266, at the corner of Quarterfield and Stevenson roads in Severn, at 7 p.m. Tuesdays for bingo.
